Ryan Castle: You're listening to Level 10 Leaders Power Tips, and I'm your host, Ryan Castle. Today's tip comes from Ruth Uribes. She's a fractional integrator with the Heroic Voice Academy. Ruth's power tip is on GWC with your secret ingredient. Let's dive in.

Ruth Uribes: Hello, everybody. I wanted to take this moment to share one EOS® tip regarding the right seat, right person, the GWC: get it, want it, capacity.

So let me start with a story. I remember a time in college, a long time ago, pretty sure before EOS® existed, where I employed these same tactics of get it, want it, capacity to do the task. This was regarding a booth where we were selling food, and I had the task of assigning roles like register and food prep.

I assigned people who had experience in both areas, and those who had little to no experience shadowed those groups. This really helped build their skill set, as well as their confidence. So when I rotated people for breaks, they were more confident in doing the task at hand.

Fast forward to my professional life, I got to experience a situation where GWC was not applied correctly. What I mean by that is there was someone on the team who was really pushing it. They were very adamant that they GWC’d the position and were very forceful, trying to convince everybody that they were the one.

The result of that was a crumbling company culture and broken trust with everybody. It was a disaster.

Once you start having those conversations and getting to know the person, and seeing how they really align with company culture, if it feels like an uphill battle or like they are trying to force or convince, that should be a red flag.

What I wanted to share along with this insight is to really listen to that intuition. That is something that I think needs to be spoken about more. Please follow that extra sense that you might be feeling, whether it is your gut or whatever you want to call it. Pay attention to that element, because I think it does not get spoken about enough.

If you're hearing this and something resonates, let this be your confirmation to follow through with what you know is true alignment. Best of luck as you move forward and lead with your heart.
